Part 2: Developing a site 45 • the "Error pages" tab allows you to create pages to customize the errors displayed on the site. • the "RAD" tab is used to create RAD pages that allow data display and input. This type of page can be based on a data file, query, etc. 3. Depending on the selected type of page, enter the requested information in the different steps of the wizard. 4. Validate the page creation. 5. The save window appears automatically. Specify the page title and name, then validate. 6. The new page is displayed in the editor. If necessary, the page template associated with the page is also generated and saved in the project. 1.3 Creating the project pages via the automatic site building (R.A.D.) For dynamic sites (Session, AWP, or PHP), the project pages can be automatically created in a single operation from the analysis description, by automatic site building (RAD). For more details, see the online help. To create the dynamic site using the RAD methodology: 1. On the "Project" tab, in the "Generation" group, click "Full Application RAD". Caution : To use this option, the project must be associated with an analysis that has been generated at least once. 2. Select the RAD pattern to use. 3. Select the data files used for the generation. 4. Select the main data files that will be the entry points in the application (these data files will be mainly used to implement the menu options). 5. Validate the creation of your site via RAD. 2 Simple operations on a page The page editor allows you to perform the following operations on the pages: • Open a page in the editor: Simply double-click the page name displayed in the "Project explorer" pane. • Save and copy a page. • Import and export a page. • Change the tab order. For more details, see the online help. 3 Main characteristics of a page A page can accept all types of controls. A page can: • include a background image : this image is displayed in the background and the controls are overlaid on the image. • include a menu : this menu allows Internet users to quickly access the main features of the site. To create a drop-down menu in a page, use a "Menu" control. The first two options are displayed in the page. The options can be manipulated via the context menu. Then, the menu options can be handled in the programming code. • include a status bar : this status bar will display the help messages associated with the different page controls. For more details, see the online help. • be multilingual : all the languages defined for the page will be available for all page controls. A page can be associated with more languages than the project (e.g., pages shared between multiple projects). For more details, see "Multilingual sites", page 133. Remark : Web pages intended to be viewed on iPhones may benefit from special enhancements: splash screen, full screen mode, etc. These features make them look like real applications. WEBDEV allows you to easily configure these specific features while keeping the compatibility with other browsers (mobile or not) on the market.
